My Top Cannabis Tinctures and Edibles List for 2018

It’s the beginning of a new year. Usually, I post an end of year blog about plastic surgery and aesthetic trends. This year, I’ve decided to change it up and post about CBD and Cannabis. You’re probably wondering why and what does this have to do with plastic surgery? For one CBD has many healing properties that can address pre-op anxiety, post-op pain and inflammation.  CBD +THC can also help patients wean off RX opiates after surgery.

Since Cannabis is still a schedule 1 drug, your physician is not allowed to prescribe it, therefore the research is in your hands.

2018 was the year I dabbled into the world of Medical Cannabis, learning about its many healing properties, attending industry conferences and Cannabis events, meeting incredible inspiring woman and visiting many dispensaries in the Bay Area. Plus interviewing entrepreneurs and medical professionals about Cannabis for my new podcast, Cannabiztalk, launching soon. All part of my ongoing education about Cannabis as a lifestyle medicine.

Understanding dosing, strains, CBD, THC ratios, and sorting through the many types of cannabis products available is very confusing.  I’ve curated a list of some of my top favorite products, which I’m excited to share with you. There are several other companies that I also love, which I will review in a future blog post. You have to decide what works best for you.

The information in this article is from my personal experience.  I was not given any of these products from the companies mentioned below in exchange for a review.

All of the products in this post are high quality containing no fillers or additives and meet all the current California regulations. The edibles in this post are not available online. To access any of the websites mentioned you have to be at least 21 years old..The products mentioned in this article are available at many California Dispensaries and Cannabis delivery services.

Are Cosmetic Procedures Aging You?

Yes, Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic Procedures can make you look older.

The goal of all these procedures is to make us look more youthful, more rejuvenated, not harsher and older.

If you take a look at some at some celebrities over the years you can really see how their images have changed from too much fillers or too much Botox, making them look weird and sometimes older than they really are.  Woman are getting botox and fillers starting in their 20’s and end up looking more like they are in their 30’s.

Take a look at Kyle Jenner before she had fillers, with fillers and without fillers. Doesn’t she look prettier and younger without fillers?

Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic procedures can actually make you look older. In fact I’ve interviewed plastic surgeons for my podcast, The NipTuck Talk Show  who have stated they don’t like fillers, don’t use fillers because they feel too much filler over time can actually cause the face to age more.

I often wonder about this as I continue to plump up face with fillers due to age and volume loss.

Yes, too much filler can make you look older.  Rather than enchanting your looks, your face becomes distorted.  Puffy cheeks with slitty eyes and duck lips is not a natural look.

Frozen faces from too much Botox can make your face look weird, waxy and overdone. Nicole Kidman’s face had a weird frozen look last year. She’s still beautiful but her face had no movement.

Watch your brows. Too much Botox can raise your brows giving you an unnatural look screaming too much Botox. On the other hand low droopy brows can age you. A brow lift can also raise your brows to where they look freakish and unnatural. That’s a sure sign you’ve had a brow lift!

Large Breasts that don’t match your body shape look unnatural and can be a health risk.  Your breasts should look like they match your body shape not lead into the room. Yet many young woman still think, big is better. Actually big is not better and the trend is going smaller with 250-300cc breast implants.  Many surgeons today will not even operate on you if you are seeking 500-600cc breast implants.  When I see a young woman with enormous breasts, I cringe because she has no idea what she is going to look like at 50 or 60 years old. Your breast should flatter your body at any age.

Beware of too much liposuction and Buccal Fat removal.  These procedures can age you as you grow older and lose volume.  There are concerns that procedures like Kybella may remove too fat from your chin and neck.

Plastic surgeons caution patients about removing too much fat in areas where we need fat as we age. Such as necks and under the eyes.

The bottom line is we can’t stop the aging process.

Be smart about your cosmetic procedure choices, striving to look like a better version of  yourself at any age.

Bathing in CBD Hemp Oil Infused So-Fizzzed Up Bath Bomb

Some of you reading this blog probably remember  when  Mary Jane (marijuana ), Pot was illegal.  People smoked weed mainly to get high.  Who knew about CBD oil or any of the other active cannabinoids in cannabis (marijuana). Times are changing very rapidly with the legalization of medical cannabis across the nation and recreational cannabis legal in some states including California.

I never heard of CBD oil until recently. Let’s talk a little about what CBD oil is.

CBD is a Cannabidiol, the non-psychotropic active ingredient in cannabis.   Cannabis has at least 113 active cannabinoids.  The “high” comes from tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC in cannabis.  CBD is legal and you don’t need a medical marijuana card to buy it. You can buy it online in many forms.   In fact there are many medicinal qualities to CBD. CBD treats anxiety, it helps reduce pain and inflammation, even PMS.  It’s even being used to treat  multiple sclerosis, cancer and fibromyalgia.  Works to help ease PMS and even depression. There are new studies being done on the many medicinal qualities of CBD.  Pure CBD oil also helps you to come down from too much THC.

CBD is rapidly becoming a buzz word in the beauty and health industry. Many new  products infused with CBD oil are entering the market, including skin care products, sun blocks,  tinctures, bath oils, bubble bath, salves to name a few.

I’ve become very curious about CBD oil and its medicinal effects especially for my plastic surgery clients.  I recently had the opportunity to try a hand-made CBD infused bath bomb!

I met with the Owner of So Fizzed Up, Meli Bowman, to try one of her hand-made CBD  Bath Bombs.

I wanted to experience bathing in CBD oil, feeling its therapeutic and calming effect. Plus it sounded like fun!!  I choose the lemon bath bomb. Each bath bomb is decorated with little colorful stones. It’s a cute presentation.

I  wanted to experience the medicinal effects after a hard Yoga class. I unwrapped the bomb, it started to crumble so I immediately put it into the tub water.  I  would recommend unwrapping it above your tub or under running water. (more…)
